TREES & URBAN AREAS.

 TREES & URBAN AREAS.

Trees should be considered urban infrastructure and areas for planting trees should be included when planning urban centres, every tree is as important and useful as a sewage, water and transport system.

This are the few ways trees benefit our urban environment;

1. They absorb and store carbon dioxide.
2. By creating shades for buildings, they reduce energy demand which also reduces waste heat from air conditioners.
3. By intercepting and absorbing rain, they reduce storm water runoff.
4. They help clean the air by taking in air pollutants.
5.  By the process known as evapotraspiration, trees take up water from the ground and release it through the surface of the leaves cooling the surrounding air.
6. They block sunlight helping keep the ground below cool.
